Good morning!!!

I know I haven't been around much here lately and I am sorry for that. I belong to a website called Cafemom and in that site there is such nice people from all walks of life. In Cafemom is a group called Cafemom Street Team. It is a group for moms that make anything handmade and sell it online at any type of venue (Etsy, Artfire, and many more handmade sites). Every other Monday there is a feature on a member of that group and this week it is Caprice Creations.
Here is her shop on Etsy, Here is her shop on Artfire, and she has another shop too on Etsy here.
She is a very nice lady and is very talented at whatever she does.

So go check her out and support a Handmade MOMMY!!!!!

Girls and their do's

The girls have been begging for a "fancy do" for church so I finally dug around on some of my favorite hair blogs and found how to do the rag curls. Well the oldest has really thick hair and I couldn't get it to do it no matter how little or big of a section I took. So I resorted to braiding her hair. I didn't think she was going to like it but she was so proud and happy that she had wavy hair.
I braided hers right after taking a shower and then she slept on them and I took them out the next morning for church.

She got so many compliments on how pretty she looked. I think she was literally floating on air!!!

The little one was so excited she was going to have curly hair. LOL she didn't want to sleep in them she wanted to take them out right then to see the curl. She liked that her hair was wiggly with the rags in it.

I was totally not expecting to see this the next morning. I knew it would be curly but not KINKY! Holy cow!!!!

She loved having curly hair. She kept touching it and saying she was "curry Shurry" (curly shirley). She pranced all day long because of her "bouncies".

Next time I do this it will be the foam curlers. I had my hands cramping so bad after this that they were sore the next day. I will curl their hair more often because they just glowed when they seen themselves in the mirror after I got done.

I was cruising around the net and look what I found!!!

Follow this link to some awesome pics of things to do with a One Dollar Bill (or 2).

Enjoy!!

Changes are happening......

There have been and will be changes going on around my house. We are getting very tight on money and we don't know how we are going to pay next months bills. It won't pay for me to go to work and hire a baby sitter for the kids because paying the baby sitter will be all I will be working for. I just hope something gives and gives in a good way. It looks like for now we are going to have to sell anything that we don't absolutely need. Dh is going to try to sell his tractor and the big lawn mower, and maybe some of his stuff off of his welding truck. We are at our ends of trying to get things to work and nothing is working. We are seriously thinking about going for credit counseling and seeing if we could do any better through a consolidation company or something. We don't want to file bankruptcy but if nothing else works then that is our only option.

We may have to cut off internet, tv and anything else that we can't afford. So not happy right now.
I have tried so hard to surrender to God and let Him have control but that is so hard. I know that He is watching over us and will not give us more than we can handle but man oh man!

Sorry just a little rant rave. DH and I have cussed and discussed all this and we don't want anyone in our family to know about it but I need to talk to someone and writing about it here sure helps.

On another note I am working on some crocheted stuff that I hope to have up in the next few weeks and hope to start selling things too. I know me selling my crochet stuff isn't going to make a difference in anything but it will help my self esteem more than you will ever know.

Well of to do more thinking, praying and crocheting!!!

The girls had VBS a few weeks ago

During the week of June 29 the kids had their Vacation Bible School at church. They absolutely loved it!!! I volunteered as a helper and got to help with my kids class. Boy howdy!!! That was a handful!! We averaged about 16 kids, all 5 yrs old or younger, all week long. I very good lesson I learned that when you get that many together, there is no telling what is going to be said. LOL I got a kick out of just listening to the kids talk to each other and to me and their teacher. Of course they loved to talk about the stories of Jesus and what all "magic" Jesus could do. Like walk on water and not sink like a rock(as told by a 4 yr old). Then he was able to wave his Magic wand over the food and feed 5,000 people out of just a couple loaves of bread and fish.

The theme for VBS was Boomerang Express, It all comes back to Jesus!! They had all Australian things hanging on the wall, and posters about Austrailia. The kids all learned a few songs and the motions to the songs. I wish now I would have took my video camera and taped them. They all did so good and the songs were wonderful. Then after the program there was live Australian animals outside!!!!!

The kids singing their songs at the program.

My youngest eating watermelon(which she doesn't like). My oldest drinking her drink so fast that she got choked. They were so excited about the animals being outside that they just wolfed down their food(whether they like it or not! LOL).

A hedge hog

The snake. That thing had red eyes and it makes me shiver everytime I see the pic!!

The lemur. He was just a baby and he was so cute!

The snake again(shiver!!!!!!!) Oh yeah, and my oldest touched it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The giant turtle. The preacher had told them that they could ride the turtle so that is all my kids talked about all week long. But then when it came there turn,,,,,, they chickened out!!!!!!

The baby kangaroo!! He was inside a pouch and was loving everyone touching and petting him. The lady that was holding him told the crowd that when they are born they are no larger than a bumble bee and have NO hind legs!!!! I didn't know that!

The girls were pooped when they got home. So was I.
But it was so much fun!!!
My oldest came home and said to me "Isn't God awesome!! He can make all kinds of things like those animals and us!!!!" Bless her heart! I about cried when she told me that.

A little something different

My DH is a welder and has a hard time finding welding caps that fit him and in colors that he likes( like John Deere, and camo).
So............
He brought a new one home for me to tear apart and to try to make some for him. Well, I tried.

DH still has to try it on, but I do hope it fits.
And no he doesn't like pink or flowers. This material was just scraps that I had left over from when I made the girls dress's. He wouldn't be caught dead outside in this hat. ;)

Catching up somewhat........

Boy have I been slacking here lately!!! I have had these done for a while now and just got them starched yesterday and now uploaded to my blog today. Haven't been in a mood to do anything here lately. I think the economy has a lot to do with that. We don't have any money to pay our bills, buy groceries or much of anything else. So the last few days I have decided to kick my tail in gear and get some of the stuff I have done listed and see if it will sell. I will list on artfire first and then maybe etsy. I don't know about etsy anymore. They are expensive to list and sell on. Ebay is worse but I need something that is free or pretty dang near free to list my stuff on and hopefully get a few sales.

All of the doilies you see below are going to be listed on artfire today and the next few days. I blocked them out and then lightly sprayed them with starch. The are firm but bendable too. Any or all of these would look great by themselves or with some kind of vase or knick-knack sitting on it. You could dress up your dresser, coffee table, or hutch with these small doilies.

This one measures 6 1/4 inches wide. This one is an "oops". I messed up on one of the points. :(

This one is 5 3/4 inches across. This one is an "oops". I messed up on one of the points. :(

Couldn't you picture these hanging from a window sill with a piece of pretty ribbon, or maybe used as snowflakes on your Christmas tree this year? Ooooo that would be pretty!!!!

Hope you enjoy them and have a great weekend!!

Stressed beyond measure!

I just got done this morning doing the check book and paying bills.......Holy Cow am I stressed now.

Dh's paychecks are no longer paying the bills. We have had to use credit cards to pay for groceries, gas, and other things that we have needed. We have totally stopped eating out(except at one restaurant where our family of 4 can eat for less than $20, and ohhhh mannnn, is the food good!!).

We have cut down on everything else. I have started making a menu and only getting the groceries that we need for the menu, NO extras. I am learning how to use coupons and sales flyers. Dh tried calling our tv satellite company and they refused to let us go down to a lower package. The man on the phone told my husband to either pay the bill as it is or go find another company. So it is either pay our bill or turn it off and only have the 3 basic channels(ABC,CBS,NBC).

I have decided to start going thru some of my stuff and seeing what I could possibly sell. I have beads from when I was making jewelry, stamps from when I made greeting cards, and ribbons from when I made hairbows. There could be more I don't know, I will just go thru things and see what I come up with. As I get them ready I will be putting photos up somewhere.... photobucket, flickr, or maybe list them here. I don't know yet. But when I do get things together then I will let ya'll know!

If things don't start looking up for us then we will have to file bankruptcy and I totally don't want to do that.

I know that God says Give it all to me and I will provide...... That is so hard, when you need something right now. I have been praying for things to get better but they only seem to be getting worse.

Things are getting rough......

Friday seals our fate. Friday is when DH will know if he has a job or not. Friday decides if we will make it or not. We are barely making it as is now. Literally when we pay all bills, and I make a menu and we go grocery shopping that is it. No left over money to go get a coke even at sonic. It is time to start looking at what we can do without. We are beginning to use our credit cards more and more all the time. I hate that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We did that once before and just about didn't get out of it all.

I have lost all motivation to do anything at all. I am in a rut of not wanting to do anything. All I want to do is sit infront of this stupid computer!!!!! I need to find me something to make money while on the net. I just am too scared to try some of the "legit" sounding offers out there. I have been burned before and don't want anymore blisters.

I just don't know what to do. I have/will pray about Friday. I am hoping that he still gets to keep his job. It will or already has come to the point to where I am going to have to go find an evening job as it is.

Well, better get to bed.

I feel the need.......

to blog......about what I don't know. I just feel the need to type, tell something, nothing really but just to do it.

Life here lately has consisted of alot of sick people. MIL is not regulated out on her meds for fibromyalgia so she is a wreck and you never know what mood or which side of her you will be talking to when you talk to her. So that has been a real challenge. The girls and me and now DH have all had really bad head colds. My oldest started it, bringing it home from school and then her sister, then me, then DH. Finally took DH to doc today. He had so much sinus pressure over his left eye that he couldn't open his eye because it hurt to move those muscles and it was extremely sore to the touch. Got him all doctored up with 2 shots in the behind and now is feeling better. LOL

Stress is about to eat me and DH up. He doesn't know from one day, much less one week to the other if he is going to have a job or not. So he has been grumpy and not very socialable here lately. the girls are suffering the most because they aren't old enough to understand why daddy is in such a bad mood. So I had to explain to DH that they don't understand and he has been better about not being so grumpy around them.

I have been crocheting off and on. I have a few pieces done just need to get them blocked out and listed on my sites. I have run out of yarn for the baby blanket I am making and can't find anymore of it at wally world so I am going to have to go to hobby lobby to find it. It will be more expensive but worth it when the new mommy gets it for her new baby boy!!

Well, better get off. DH just told me that the sound of me typing on the keys is driving him crazy. The computer is in the bedroom so I guess I will type more later.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend!!!

Our weekend started on Thursday with my oldest school egg hunt. She had fun.

Posing with Grama Lulu.

Saturday we went to our church to hunt eggs and boy were there lots of kids and eggs!!!!!! I would say about 150-200 kids and I think I heard someone say there were approximately 1500 eggs to be hunted. They were all plastic and filled with candy and prizes!!!!!! Can you say sugar rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They had these bouncy things set up for the kids. I don't know the technical name for them.

Then Sunday we went to church all dolled up.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter as much as we did!!!!

Taxes done but MIL saga continues

Well, we got our taxes done. We are getting some back but not as much as we were expecting. I guess it could be worse, we could be paying in. Just glad they are done.

MIL dog is still not doing good at all. MIL is in denial that the dog is beyond help. Vet says that the dog won't eat and isn't using the bathroom. He told MIL that the dog is in kidney failure and there is nothing more he can do for the dog. But MIL won't give up and just let the dog go. She has convinced herself that the dog only has a bad kidney infection and wants the vet to keep trying to make her better. I can understand about not wanting to let go. The dog is over 14yrs old and has a bad back, congestive heart failure, bad back legs, and hardly any teeth left. This dog has been her companion thru thick and thin. It is all she has left in this life(so she says). Like she doesn't have a son, DIL, and 2 granddaughters to live for. She has run everyone else off by being mean, lying, and causing problems between family members.

well DH will be home soon and I haven't gotten anything out for supper tonite. I am in a funk when it comes to cooking. I hate having the same ol' same ol' all the time. Time to get out the cook books and start looking.

until later!!!!

Last 2 days haven't been good......

Problems with MIL and doing taxes.......ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!

Mix in kids that constantly are fighting, picking and bugging each other, and I am trying to come up with a name for my new shop and get things going with it.

I looked up the name Fanciful Things and someone already has it, but doesn't have anything listed. They set up shop in 2008 and doesn't look like they have done anything with it. This hit me wrong yesterday, I wanted to scream.....I REALLY like the name Fanciful Things. Now I am thinking of a few other names.....
Fanciful Crochet (which won't work if I ever want to add things that aren't crocheted)
Fanciful Goods (ehh, is okay i guess)
Fanciful Creations (liking this one more and more)

I like the name Fanciful but I don't know what to put with it. UUGGGHHH!!!!!

Someone help me!!!!!! LOL

I am still here.....

Just been busy...... REAL busy. Crocheting my little hands to death. I just need to get the doilies blocked out and listed in my new etsy store. I just need to think of a name for my store. Any suggestions????? I have no idea. I am going to get about 10-15 things crocheted and then I will open my store.

I have thought about "Fanciful Things" for a name for my store. I don't know what do you think?
Let me know.......

Thinking about a lot of things......

Here lately alot has been on my mind. The economy, my family, my DH, his job, how we are going to buy groceries with money we don't have. DH's hours have been cut to no more than 40hrs/wk but no less than 32hrs/wk so that he doesn't lose his benefits. I would really like to start selling my crocheted doilies and actually make money at it.

My mom and dad and possibly my sister are coming to visit this weekend. I am excited for them to come. I haven't seen them since Christmas.

I am hoping to start up a new store in a few weeks to a month. I will be selling my doilies that I have been making. I just need a name for my shop. I am thinking really hard about this and can't come up with any catchy name. I have a few but not really keen on them. Anyone have any suggestions???

Another thing I was thinking about doing is changing my blog name and possibly the address too. I will let you all know what I decide. I am hoping that I can change both and not lose those of you that are following me.

Until next time,

Lots of things on my mind today!

My mind is just racing with thoughts about everything from how much I need to clean my house to wondering if DH will still have a job by the end of the day to how we are going to survive even if he does get to keep his job to praying to God that he will help us thru this.

I am looking thru my house to see what I can sell. I have clothes that are too small for me that I am thinking of selling. I am trying to put things in priority so if we have to start shutting things off. Internet will be the first to go. We can/will survive without it. We just went grocery shopping yesterday so we have groceries for atleast 2 more weeks if not longer just depending on how much I can stretch things.

I need to clean my house, but just can't get motivated enough to do it. Laundry needs done, dishes washed, vaccum run, and the list could go on and on. Just everyday things that need to be done that haven't been done since last Friday when DH got word that he could possibly lose his job. I feel too stressed to get things done.

One thing I have been doing is lurking around ETSY. Man, is there some awesome sellers on there!!!! Just head over to Etsy.com and do a search for tags with Cafemom team in them. Awesome people listed under that name. I would be sooooooo dangerous if I had money. LOL

Friday, February 20, 2009

Really stressed right now!!

So yeah, I am really stressed right now. Dh's hours are getting cut and it looks like I am going to have to start looking for a job. I soooooo don't want to. I know we need the money but I don't want to go find a job, for a few reasons.
1. youngest daughter would have to go to a daycare
2. or I would have to find a night shift somewhere
3. No one would hire a mom that hasn't worked for 5 yrs
4. I don't have any "skills" that would get me a higher paying job I would have to work in a gas station or the mall.

So I am looking for a job that I could do at home. I am also thinking of going to the local vo-tech to get some type of training in something. I spend so much time on the internet so I was thinking web page design.

If someone handed me a blank check and said it was to pay for any type of education that I wanted, I don't know what I would do. I honestly don't know what I would like to become. It seems like I have been a mommy for so long that I don't know what else I want to do. I guess I am trying to say that I have no idea what my "calling" is. I get to thinking about it and get to feeling SO lost. Dont' get me wrong I LOVE being a mom but what else would I like to be or do. I have had 5 wonderful years to be able to stay at home and take care of my kids but now that it is time for me to start thinking about a job I am scared to death. No one will want to hire a mom that hasn't worked in over 5 yrs.

God please give me guidance!!!!

Monday, February 16, 2009

So it has been a while since I last posted. not much going on around here that ya'll would want to know about. MIL is being a B!#$%. She has now been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She is living by herself and is attaching herself to my DH like he is her DH. Drives me crazy. She gets mad at him if he doesn't come see her just as soon as he comes home. All she does when anyone talks to her is talk bad about someone else. She is as two faced as she has ever been but here lately it is getting really bad.

Anyway, How was everyones valentines day? mine was good. Friday nite DH come home with a dozen yellow roses, 2 bags of M&M's(plain and peanut), a bag of candy for the kids and a teddy bear for each of the kids. Isn't he sweet? Saturday nite I fixed him his favorite supper...... Chicken fried steak, mashed tators, gravy, corn, and a salad. He and I loved it but the girls only liked the mashed tators and gravy and the salad. They did eat a little of their meat but only after I told them no candy until they ate atleast some of their meat. LOL

I am pms'ing so bad right now that I could snap off someones head if they do the wrong thing. Okay maybe not that bad but I am not in a good mood right now. I want to sew but I know that if I get out my sewing stuff I would probably end up throwing machine and all in the trash because I don't have the patience right now to handle any mess ups. So today sounds like a good day to be lazy and not do anything.

tata for now!!!

My daughters first snow day from school!!!!

Oh my did they have fun!!!! My oldest was disappointed that she didn't get to go to school but when I told her we would go play in it later she was happy. LOL We don't get snow very often here in SW Oklahoma, and when we do we try to make the best of it.

"S" eating the sleet (or sleek as she calls it).

Trying to catch it on her tongue....

"M" eating the sleet.

"M" telling me her nose was cold. LOL

"M" yelling at "S" to stand still so she could throw sleet at her. LOL

They had a blast and I froze. LOL It was still sleeting while we were out playing and they didn't even seem to mind it at all. Me? I was plastered as close to the south end of the house as I could get to get out of the sleet.

CPSIA.......

As parents and concerned citizens I’m sure most of us at one time or another have been confronted with the question of lead poisoning. But have you asked yourself what your government is doing to protect your children from lead contained in toys? The answer? They're banning toys, taking books from schools and libraries, hurting low income families, killing entrepreneurial spirit and risking putting the economy in an even greater depression than we've seen in decades. I'd like to introduce you to their solution: the CPSIA.

Do you know about the CPSIA? No? Then I ask you to take a few minutes to find out about it.

The CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new set of laws that will come into effect on 10 February, 2009 and will impact many, many people in a negative way. Make no mistake, this is very real. View it for yourself. If Forbes, the American Library Association and numerous other media are paying attention, perhaps you should too.

How will these new laws affect you? Well, here are a few examples:

To the Parents of Young Students:
Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.

To the Avid Reader:
Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.
Article from the American Library Association http://www.wo.ala.org/districtdispatch/?p=1322

To the Lover of All Things Handmade:
Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.

To the Environmentalist:
Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.

To the Second-Hand Shopper:
Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.

To the Entrepreneur:
Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.

To the Antique Toy Collector:
Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123189645948879745.html

To the American Economy:
Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.

To the Worldwide Economy:
Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses.

Crocheted 3 pineapple bookmark

I know it isn't a very good pic of them. The left one is made out of multi-colored pastel thread and the right one is made out of lavendar colored thread. I haven't blocked them yet but I kinda like them the way they are. I think I will go ahead and block them and I might list them in my store. I was thinking maybe $5-$7 each? What do you think?

The next thing I am working on is a doily. I am working at it little at a time.

My baby turned 3 today......

I can't believe that just 3 years ago I was screaming my head off at the doc to get her out. Now I have a beautiful girl to show for all the pain and agony she put me through. I was so sick with her and she loved kicking my ribs everytime I would sit down. My DH said she was ornery and she sure is.
See what I mean..........

This is a better smile......

She sure had fun at her party. She is so into Tinkerbell right now that nothing else matters. She got the prized Tinkerbell doll. She had seen it when we went Christmas shopping and she loved it. She was so upset when she didn't get it for Christmas. She got it for her birthday and some of the other fairies from the movie Tinkerbell.

The prized doll........
